Buck Knives Sponsoring Youth Hunt Giveaway at Boone and Crockett Club’s 30th Big Game Awards

Buck Knives has joined the growing list of sponsors for one of North America’s longest-running celebrations of big game conservation and management – the Boone and Crockett Club’s 30th Big Game Awards, scheduled for August 1-3, 2019, in Springfield, Missouri.

A triennial event, the 30th Big Game Awards is being hosted by Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s and will take place at the Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium in Springfield. Visitors to the museum will be treated to an exhibition of outstanding trophies taken in fair chase over the past three years, including at least one new World’s Record, state records, and Top-Five trophies representing 33 different categories of native North American big game. The exhibit will also feature records book specimens taken by young sportsmen age 16 and under.

“I was fortunate to grow up in Alaska where hunting is a way of life and widely accepted as a means to put food on the table,” said Boone and Crockett Club President Timothy C. Brady. “Unfortunately, that’s not always the case today for all our youth who hunt. We need to do a better job of publicizing the commitments sportsmen continue to make conserving habitat to maintain healthy wildlife populations that all Americans appreciate. Our Big Game Awards program is a great step in that direction.”

The events in Springfield will culminate with banquets honoring top trophies and young sportsmen and women. Buck Knives is sponsoring a hunt giveaway for one lucky youth in attendance at the Jack S. Parker Generation Next banquet on August 2.

“Fair Chase hunting is a critical and irreplaceable component to wildlife management while also providing amazing outdoor life experiences for today’s youth,” said Buck President and CEO CJ Buck. “We are honored to participate in the Gen Next banquet and the celebration of these amazing young people’s remarkable accomplishments.”

“Buck Knives is an American-made, family-run household name in the outdoors,” continued Brady. “It’s companies like this, and others, that have historically supported conservation efforts and have helped fuel the conservation movement in this country, a movement the next generation must be inspired to carry forward.”

The public exhibit within the museum will be open from May through August 3. More than 150 outstanding specimens are expected, as well as over 325,000 curious visitors.

Boone and Crockett Club began keeping trophy records in 1906 as a way of detailing species once headed for extinction. Today, trophy data reflect population health and habitat quality. Biologists compare and contrast records to improve local management strategies as well as state and federal wildlife polices.

Buck Knives joins Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s, the Wild Sheep Foundation, Federal Premium Ammunition, and the Dallas Safari Club as 30th Big Game Awards sponsors.
