Kayak angler takes home $1,925 in winnings

Powell reported great fishing conditions with calm winds and overcast skies. The angler caught his limit on twitch baits and Berkley Gulp! jerk shad.
“Overall, it was a great day, mid-70s,” said Powell. “We caught a lot of fish today.”
For first place, Powell won $1,000 in cash along with a Power-Pole Micro Anchor. The angler measured a 22.00-inch speckled sea trout on Berkley Gulp! and a PENN reel, which won the $100 Berkley Gulp! Big Trout award, plus $100 in Berkley product along, and the $300 PENN Reels award. Powell also took advantage of the Anglers Advantage contingency program and added $425 to his winnings. In total, the angler took home $1,925.
Second-place finisher Derek Engle, of Spring Hill, Florida, measured a 26.25-inch redfish and a 19.00-inch trout to take home $880, which included $250 in Anglers Advantage cash.
The kayak angler targeted his fish in the Jacksonville and Titusville areas. Unexpected conditions impacted Engle’s day and made for a tough bite. After locating his fish, the angler threw hardbaits to boat his limit.
Darren Frost, of Melbourne, Florida, added this third-place finish to a previous win at Clearwater and a Divisional Angler of the Year title. The angler fished the lagoon at Titusville. The angler targeted his fish with topwater baits and jigs. Frost won $420 for his third-place finish along with $180 in Anglers Advantage cash.
The next stop for the IFA Kayak Tour is Lafitte, Louisiana, on March 3. Anglers who enter at least two events and compete in at least one event will be qualified for the 2019 IFA Kayak Tour Championship.
